The White Lace Inn
February 2005 Newsletter
Greetings Friends!
Be like the bird who,
Halting in his flight
On limb too slight,
Feels it give way beneath him
Yet sings,
Knowing he hath wings.
Victor Hugo
Many of our snow birds have flown south for the winter,
but they miss the beauty of snow covered fields and trees. They miss the
quiet season of Door County. This winter has been mild.
Yes, January had it's blizzard and thaw and February covered the hills
with snow, then settled down to periods of mild temperatures in the 30's
and even some 40's. The ground hog did not see his shadow in Door County
and the weather is in agreement with the furry little fellow, as we look
for signs of spring and the sun comes out to warm the air and melt the
snow on farm fields and roads.
The Fish Creek Winter Games entertained visitors under cloudy, but
warm skies. Valentine's Day found the Inn filled with couples looking for
that romantic, relaxing weekend. The weekends ahead are filling up with
reservations for couples who come to celebrate their for one another with
peaceful drives through Potawatomi and Peninsula State parks or alone the
shores of Green Bay and Lake Michigan.
This weekend

These are a few of my favorite things!
Door County has more than 100 miles of gorgeous trails for skiing, snowshoeing or hiking as well as 250 miles of snowmobile trails. Whether you’re on foot or gliding over the trails by snowmobile, you’ll be invigorated by the fresh cold air and inspired by our clear blue skies.
For updated trail and snow conditions, call the information hotline at 920-743-4456, Ext. 6.
And, of course, you can always shop your winter blues away! In Sturgeon Bay, our boutiques, galleries and museums are open year-round. Take advantage of some good after-Christmas sales at the shops on 3rd Avenue and on Jefferson Street and get a sneak peek at the new spring merchandise. Don’t forget to stop by the
Dancing Bear, our gift shop in town. Our staff will be happy to help you find a treasure or two for you or a loved one – or both!
