The White Lace Inn
June 2004 Newsletter
It is the month of June,
The month of leaves and roses,
When pleasant sights salute the eyes
And pleasant scents the noses.
Nathaniel Parker Willis
Hello
Friends!
Once again, Memorial Day has signaled the official start of the summer
season, and Sturgeon Bay and all of Door County are crackling with
activity. Just name your pleasure and we’ll bet you can find it here. We
have over 250 miles of coastline for those of you interested in sailing,
kayaking or taking a cruise. For hiking or biking, we have miles and miles
of trails in some of the most beautiful parks in the state. Add to that,
eleven golf courses, fishing and horseback riding and you can easily fill
an entire week! And we haven’t even talked about our quaint shops, quality
galleries and gourmet restaurants! Come see us this month and take in one
of the town festivals, sidewalk sales or a theater event. We’re ready and
waiting to help you fill your days with activities and your nights with
romance!
Stay A While!
Did you know that staying with us longer saves you money? It’s true!
During high season (May 28 through October 17, 2004), if you stay with us
for six nights or longer, we’ll take 10% off your total bill. If
you’ve only thought of Door County as a great place for a long weekend,
then think again! Take a look at everything that’s going on this month and
you’ll soon see that it’s easy to fill an entire week – and then some!
Give us a call toll free at 877-948-5223 to make your summer
reservations.
Speaking of Reservations………
Summer is definitely the busy season, so we encourage you to plan ahead.
Call early for reservations – especially if you have a special room or
particular dates in mind. Weekday availability is somewhat better during
early June, but even that changes as we move into the third week of June
and the summer activity picks up speed! Of course, never hesitate to call
us at the last minute. We occasionally experience cancellations and the
dates or room you want might just open up!
We Aim to Please……….
……………and we want
to meet your dietary needs when you stay with us, if at all possible. If
you have any medical dietary restrictions, please let us know when you
make your reservations. Also, please be aware that, due to our limited
restaurant license and small staff, we do not operate a full service
kitchen. For those of you on a low carb diet, for example, there are
several entrée substitutions that we can offer if we are aware of your
needs in advance.
What Is So Rare As A Day in June?
For the fourth year in a row, over two dozen whimsically painted
sturgeon
are on display throughout the town as part of this year’s Sturgeon
Around the Bay. The fanciful, finned friends are designed by local
artists and sponsored by area businesses as part of a project developed by
the Sturgeon Bay Visitor & Convention Bureau and Help of Door County. This
year, White Lace Inn, Dancing Bear and May Realty are sponsoring the
colorful kaleidoscope sturgeon on display in front of the Dancing Bear.
Proceeds raised at the auction in late August will benefit Third Avenue
