If you are located just about anywhere in the Midwest, then you know only
too well that spring not only sprung – it sprung a leak! After weeks and
weeks of rain and unseasonably cool temperatures, it appears that the
clouds have lifted and summer has finally arrived! Temperatures are rising
and the spring rains have left a lush summer landscape in their wake. And
just in time, too! There is so much to do in Door County this month that
the days simply are not long enough!
Here at the Inn, our gardens are in bloom and lemonade is in season!
Strawberries are here and cherries should be ready for picking toward the
middle of the month. There are concerts in the park and on the waterfront,
sunset cruises, theater events, summer festivals and – when the heavens
cooperate – the Northern Lights! Who could ask for more?
Our Rain, Rain, Go Away……..And Stay Away!……..Sale!
Feeling the need to spend some time in the great outdoors after such a
soggy start to the season? We hear you! We’ve reduced the rates on
selected rooms at the Inn to help you dry out in style without shrinking
your savings account! On Wednesday and Thursday, July 7 & 8, and Wednesday
& Thursday, July 14 & 15, we’re taking $20 per evening off our Washburn
and Hadley House rooms. Our Washburn House (Rooms A, B, C & D) has a
lovely courtyard garden and features large, beautifully decorated rooms
with queen size beds, queen size whirlpools and gas fireplaces. Our Hadley
House (Suites 16, 17, 18 & 19) features luxurious suites with king size
beds, oversized whirlpools and gas fireplaces. Of course, our delicious
full breakfast is included with every stay! Take a peek at our

Whistle While You Shop!
As usual, extended shopping hours are in place for the summer. Many of
Sturgeon Bay’s quaint shops and boutiques will be open until 7 p.m.,
Monday through Friday, throughout July and August. This summer, we’ve
added a special touch. Strolling musicians and entertainers will be
alternating between Madison Avenue, Third Avenue and Jefferson Street each
weekday between 4:00 and 7:00 p.m. Enjoy!
 New
in Our Gift Shop
White Lace Inn spa-style bathrobes are now available in our gift shop. Our
beautiful robes are French terry-lined, mid-calf length and embroidered
with the White Lace Inn logo. They’re perfect to slip into after a long
soak in a bubbling whirlpool, as a thoughtful gift or to take home as a
souvenir of your stay here at the Inn. Robes are generously sized – one
size fits most individuals – and retail for $55.
 What’s
Summer Without a Fish Boil?
If you’ve never been to a fish boil, you owe it to yourself to make one
part of your Door County experience. Fish boils originated more than 100
years ago when Scandinavian settlers and lumbermen discovered how easy it
was to prepare a meal by boiling the plentiful white fish and lake trout
with potatoes and onions in a large outdoor pot.
Good “boilers” will spin a tale or two while they cook and the cooking
ceremony itself is quite dramatic, ending with the traditional boil-over
and flames shooting high into the night sky.
Many Door County restaurants offer fish boils, including several right
here in Sturgeon Bay. Our staff will be happy to help you with
reservations next time you visit!
 Summertime and the
Livin’ is Easy
Celebrate an old fashioned Fourth of July in Sturgeon Bay. Take in
the ice cream social at 7:00 p.m. followed by the Peninsula Symphonic Band
at 8:00 p.m. and a spectacular fireworks display at dusk. All activities
will be held at Sawyer Park along the waterfront
Waterfront concerts will be held each Sunday in July at
the Door County Maritime Museum. Admission is free. Concerts start
each Sunday evening at 7:00 p.m. with the exception of Sunday, July
4th, when Door County favorite Julian Hagen appears at 6:00 p.m. to
kick off the Fourth of July festivities.
Third Avenue Playhouse continues its big summer
season with the TAP at Sunset concert series featuring artists like
Sara Pace, Tim O’Connell and Jennie DeVoe . On Saturday, July 24th, TAP
presents Melanie in a free outdoor concert at Market Square (across the
street from the Inn). Don’t miss the opportunity to see this Grammy
award winning artist and author of “Brand New Key” (“I’ve Got a Brand New
Pair of Rollerskates”) and “Look What They’ve Done to My Song”. For

How about a Supper and Shakespeare outing with Door
County Trolley? This year, Door County Shakespeare presents Taming
of the Shrew and The Merry Wives of Windsor in the beautiful outdoor
setting of Bjorklunden Garden. For more information, call 920-839-1500.
Be sure to enjoy Dylan in Woodstock, a photographic
exhibit by Elliot Landry on display at The Fairfield until August
8th. This stunning exhibit features 70 black & white and color photographs
taken of Bob Dylan at Woodstock during his intimate moments away from the
public.
There’s something for everyone during the Jefferson
Street Festival on July 17. The 7th annual celebrations features live
music, strolling entertainers, children’s activities, a silent auction and
food and beverage tents. For more information, call 920-743-6246.
Gardeners will have a field day on July 27 when the
Door County Memorial Hospital Auxiliary holds its 44th Annual House &
Garden Walk. Five homes and gardens will be opened to the public from
9 a.m. to 5 p.m. For tickets, call 920-746-1071.

gift shop in town. We have extended shopping hours in July and, as
if that’s not tempting enough, Sturgeon Bay’s Sidewalk Sale is July 29.
