The White Lace Inn
August 2004 Newsletter
Hello
Friends!
Warm summer sun, shine kindly
here;
Warm southern wind, blow softly here;
Green sod above, lie light, lie light;
Good night, dear heart, good night, good night.
- Mark Twain
August is one of our
favorite months here at the Inn. Not only is it full from beginning to
end with fun summer activities, but it’s also National Romance Month!
And, as you know, romance is our specialty! If you need an excuse to
celebrate romance a full six months before Valentine’s Day ,
come see us and enjoy Door County’s warm sunny days and crisp cool
evenings. We’ve even had a few nights recently that were cool enough for a
fire! Spend your days browsing through our shops and galleries or
exploring our 250 miles of scenic shoreline. At night, enjoy a romantic
candlelight dinner at one of our gourmet restaurants, stroll along the bay
and take in the beauty of a summer sunset and then return to your room for
a relaxing whirlpool. In the morning, feast on one of our homemade
breakfasts and get ready to do it all over again! Give us a call toll
free at 877-948-5223 and plan a romantic getaway for August – or anytime!
It’s Berry,
Berry Good!
Raspberries and blueberries are in season in Door County and our
innkeepers are putting them to good use in our kitchen. If you visit us
this month, chances are you’ll be enjoying fresh raspberries with your
breakfast entrée or some of our delicious chilled berry soup or blueberry
muffins!
And Cherries, Too!
Those
beautiful cherry trees that blossomed in June are now heavy with fruit.
You’ll find sweet and tart cherries at roadside
stands and farmers markets, at the Cherry Fest in Jacksonport and in the
muffins and apple cherry crisp at the Inn. Or you can spend an afternoon
in one of Door County’s many orchards and pick your own. Our innkeepers
will be happy to tell you where to seek out the best and the sweetest of
the bunch!
In the Good Old Summertime…
