I’m glad the sky is painted blue,
And the earth is painted green,
With such a lot of nice fresh air
All sandwiched in between.

Our blue skies and green countryside and yes, all the nice fresh air, are here for your enjoyment. Although this summer has been warm and dry, recent summer thunderstorms have produced the refreshing rains during the night leaving that clean feel to the air to be enjoyed as you explore Door County with its harvest in full swing.

Roadside stands are over flowing with garden produce. Vendors gather at the Market Square on Saturday mornings with fresh picked cherries, tomatoes, lettuce, cucumbers and a great variety of fresh fruit and vegetables.

It is a wonderful time to visit Door County. The bay shore and lakeshore draw you with cooling breezes and sandy beaches. Take a boat tour of the bay, rent a sailboat or wave runner, enjoy a charter fishing experience or just grab a good book and head to one of our parks or beaches.

August is jam packed with festivals, fairs and concerts.

Third Avenue Playhouse (TAP) has a full schedule for August starting with Vespus Marimba Band August 5; For Kids By Kids August 6 & 7; The Ambassadors August 12; Julian Hagen August 20 and Tristan Christ’s Illusions of Reality August 27 & 28. 920-743-1760.

Enjoy the hilarity as you watch the boat-building contest at the Wooden Boat Show and Festival at the Maritime Museum August 6 and 7. 920-743-5958.

The Door County Fair takes place at the John Miles County Park in Sturgeon Bay August 10-14. Watch the judging of the dairy cattle; take a ride on the Ferris wheel; check out the food stands. 920-746-2261.

The 23rd Annual Thresheree and Antique Machinery Show takes place August 19-21. Antique tractor pull, kids pedal tractor pull, more activities. 920-743-4859.

After you’ve had a day of fun return to the White Lace Inn and enjoy lemonade or ice tea and a White Lace Inn cookie while you look through our basket of restaurant menus to decide where to have your evening meal. Cherie or Marcia can help you with reservations.

By this time you’re probably ready to try your private whirlpool in your beautifully decorated room at the Inn and enjoy a good night of sleep in your king or queen size bed. In the morning, come to the Main House for a hearty breakfast of fruit filled French toast or a delicious egg bake, muffin and fruit soup. Dennis or Mary will help you find the location of your day’s activity.

Just look at our rooms, make a choice and reserve online or give us a call.
