The White Lace Inn October 2003 Newsletter
Oh suns and skies and clouds of June,
And flowers of June together,
Ye cannot rival for one hour
October’s bright blue weather.
--Helen Hunt Jackson
Although it’s hard to imagine something better than summer in Door County, we have to admit that fall is one of our favorite times. October is a feast for the senses – the feel of the cool crisp autumn air, the brilliance of the fall colors against a dazzling blue sky, the scents of hot apple cider and pumpkin pie mingling with the smell of woodsmoke. The whole County is bustling with activity this time of year! Come stay with us and enjoy one of the many fall festivals or parades. Indulge your appetite at roadside stands and farmers markets. Or scuff through leaves down a quiet county trail and enjoy some of Nature’s most beautiful displays. Relax, renew and reconnect!
Don’t forget that our “quiet season” rates go into effect Sunday, October 26, 2003 and run through
May 27, 2004. Enjoy a room with a fireplace or whirlpool for as little as $70 per night on weeknights (Sunday through Thursday) and $130 per night on weekends (Friday and
Saturday). And, if you stay with us from October 20 through December 31, you’ll receive a gift certificate for the
Dancing Bear, our gift shop in town. This gift certificate is good for
10% off your purchases at the Bear and can be used mulitple times during the length of your stay. Call us
toll free at 877-948-5223 to make your reservation.
Pumpkins aren’t just for Halloween!
One of our favorite recipes for fall is our Pumpkin Apple
Muffins. They’re the perfect accompaniment to a hearty breakfast on a brisk fall morning. Try our recipe, or – better yet – come stay with us and we’ll do the baking while you relax in our sunlit parlor and plan your day!
An Apple a Day…………..
……………well, you know the rest! It’s apple season in Door County. Pick your own or buy them pre-picked, plain or caramel, in pies or in cider – it’s all good! For orchard listings in Door County and throughout Wisconsin, visit the website of the
Wisconsin Apple Grower’s Association, www.waga.org.
