The White Lace Inn
November, 2005 Newsletter
Some residents of Door County become snowbirds in November; the streets are quite, the towns serene, resting after the summer and autumn rush. Then there are the hearty souls, such as the folks at the White Lace Inn, who stay and enjoy that frosty white lace Jack Frost has in store for us. We enjoy this time of the year as we watch the last sailboat leave the marina for its winter shelter and we eagerly plan for Thanksgiving. We are thankful that we saw so many old and new friends visit us this past season at the White Lace Inn.
The foliage this fall has been spectacular, more beautiful than many can remember in past years. Cosmos, mums and roses were still blooming in the White Lace Inn garden on the first of November. The fish in the garden pond still swim under sunny blue skies. The first of Jack Frost’s work was later than usual this year and right afterwards we saw the long Vs of geese in the sky.
We are starting to decorate the Inn for the holidays but we are going to enjoy this beautiful weather as long as possible. November weather is often kind to Door County right up to Thanksgiving Day. There have actually been years when we wondered if we would have a white Christmas!
