May begins with cooler than average temperatures and a lot of optimism that warmer days are on the horizon. This is always an exciting time for Sturgeon Bay and Door County as the number of activities on the calendar increases along with our visitors. The annual Festival of Blossoms is a month-long celebration of Spring as the orchards awake and fill the county with their colorful blooms and the communities host a variety of events from lighthouse walks to shipyard tours. The marinas are filling up with the yachts and sailboats that call Door County home from now until fall. Those of you returning for the first time since last year might want to consider extending your stay to have time to take in all there is to offer. Instead of a night or two with us, many recent reservations are for four or five, or more nights. We are noticing that many guests are choosing to enjoy a longer stay here in Door County instead of spending the gas money and time driving to a secondary destination. There is so much to see and do in Door County . . or just relax . . Reserve a room or suite with fireplace, whirlpool or both. Book now and experience the warm hospitality throughout Door County. The activities begin the first weekend and there is no slowing down all month. Most main events are listed for you towards the end of this newsletter. We invite you to spend some time with us at the White Lace Inn and let us have fun sharing our lives with you. Come once and you will know why we have so many repeat guests. Why not become part of our family and start a tradition of your own? Come up and enjoy a get-a-way in beautiful Sturgeon Bay. Have breakfast with us in the morning and then explore the shops, galleries and museums that are only a couple of blocks away. Come back to your room and relax before dining in one of the many restaurants we have to offer. Let our Innkeeper recommend a place to eat and also make your reservation for you. Call us and reserve your room. You will be glad you did! Come and experience why Money Magazine voted Door County as one of the top 10 vacation destinations in North America. There is plenty to do in May for everyone. Performances at Third Avenue Playhouse, visiting our five wineries, museum exhibits, progressive dinners and trolley rides and horse and carriage trips are just a few of the offerings. Your room at the White Lace Inn is just a phone call away! Enjoy the warmth of a fireplace and relax in a whirlpool after your day of activities. We have so many rooms and suites to choose from. Wood burning or gas fireplace, we have your preference. Quaint room or large king suite, we have them both. Stay at the Main House where your breakfast is served every morning or try one of the three other houses that are located a short walk through the garden. Each house is special in itself. We have vacancies in May/June and we are offering
great rates! Are you looking for a place to gather as a 'small group' ? We're seeing an ever increasing number of friends traveling together, family reunions, small weddings, elopements, small business meetings, church groups, etc . . If you have anything in mind along these lines - please give us a call, 877-948-5223, or e-mail Romance@WhiteLaceInn.com with your questions or thoughts. Thank you, Dennis Live Music, Popcorn and Beverages, compliments of Dennis and Bonnie, every Thursday evening from 7:00 to 10:00pm! The well traveled contemporary acoustic folk music group, Random Orbit, continues hanging around our parlor picking tunes for guests and friends on Thursday evenings, year 'round. Although they have been "off the road" for some years now, their music style remains relaxed yet somehow "painfully" intricate. Guests are always welcome to join in. Just one more reason to take a Friday off, book a room and have that long relaxing weekend you deserve!
