May begins with cooler than average temperatures and a lot of optimism that warmer days are on the horizon and the frost threat has passed. This is always an exciting time for Sturgeon Bay and Door County as the number of activities on the calendar increases along with our visitors. The annual Festival of Blossoms is a month-long celebration of Spring as the orchards awake and fill the county with their colorful blooms and the communities host a variety of events from lighthouse walks to shipyard tours. The marinas are filling up with the yachts and sailboats that call Door County home from now until fall. Those of you returning for the first time since last year might want to consider extending your stay to have time to take in all there is to offer. Instead of a night or two with us, many recent reservations are for four or five, or more nights. We are noticing that many guests are choosing to enjoy a longer stay here in Door County as they discover more to do right here with each visit. Lots of activities, but also many breathtaking spots to relax and appreciate the tranquility that we are known for. Book now and experience the warm hospitality throughout Door County. The activities begin the first weekend and there is no slowing down all month. Many new events along with the annual events are listed for you towards the end of this newsletter. |

We invite you to spend some time with us at the White Lace Inn and let us have fun sharing our lives with you. Come once and you will know why we have so many repeat guests. Why not become part of our family and start a tradition of your own? Come up and enjoy a get-a-way in beautiful Sturgeon Bay. Have breakfast with us in the morning and then explore the shops, galleries and museums that are only a couple of blocks away. Come back to your room and relax before dining in one of the many restaurants we have to offer in the area. Let our Innkeeper recommend a place to eat and also make your reservation for you. Call us and reserve your room. You will be glad you did! Come and experience why Money Magazine voted Door County as one of the top 10 vacation destinations in North America. Reservations 1-877-948-5223. May is a great time to take advantage of the only time of the year that our shipyards are open to the public. Sturgeon Bay is proud of, and is nationally known for, its shipyards. May 2nd you can tour all three of them from 9am-2pm. Let's not forget Door County's signature ambience of "culture in the country". Painters, potters, sculptors, craftsmen, weavers, and performers reflect and enhance the natural wonders of the Door County peninsula. From your room at the White Lace Inn you can walk to the Miller Art Museum, and Popelka Trenchard Art Gallery and Glass Studio. A short drive across the bridge, (or stroll if you are up to it) and you will be at the Door County Maritime Museum. All of these facilities are open year 'round. Bring a light jacket; it is not summer yet! But it's coming! And "See how our garden grows" as we
prepare for the Parade of Ponds Tour

White Lace Inn will be one of nine gardens featured this year! |
