White Lace Inn -- we're always here when you need us . . . .open every night of the year
May begins with cooler than average temperatures and a lot of optimism that warmer days are on the horizon and the frost threat has passed. This is always an exciting time for Sturgeon Bay and Door County as the number of activities on the calendar increases along with our visitors. The annual Festival of Blossoms is a month-long celebration of Spring as the orchards awake and fill the county with their colorful blooms and the communities host a variety of events from lighthouse walks to shipyard tours. The marinas are filling up with the yachts and sailboats that call Door County home from now until fall. Those of you returning for the first time since last year might want to consider extending your stay to have time to take in all there is to offer. Instead of a night or two with us, many recent reservations are for four or five, or more nights. We are noticing that many guests are choosing to enjoy a longer stay here in Door County as they discover more to do right here with each visit. Lots of activities, but also many breathtaking spots to relax and appreciate the tranquility that we are known for. Book now and experience the warm hospitality throughout Door County. The activities begin the first weekend and there is no slowing down all month. Many new events along with the annual events are listed for you towards the end of this newsletter.

May is a great time to take advantage of the only time of the year that our shipyards are open to the public. Sturgeon Bay is proud of, and is nationally known for, its shipyards. May 2nd you can tour all three of them from 9am-2pm. Let's not forget Door County's signature ambience of "culture in the country". Painters, potters, sculptors, craftsmen, weavers, and performers reflect and enhance the natural wonders of the Door County peninsula. From your room at the White Lace Inn you can walk to the Miller Art Museum, and Popelka Trenchard Art Gallery and Glass Studio. A short drive across the bridge, (or stroll if you are up to it) and you will be at the Door County Maritime Museum. All of these facilities are open year 'round. Bring a light jacket; it is not summer yet! But it's coming!
And "See how our garden grows" as we
prepare for the Parade of Ponds Tour
www.ParadeOfPondsDoorCounty.com taking place on Saturday June 27.
White Lace Inn will be one of nine gardens featured this year!
We have vacancies in

Are you looking for a place to gather as a 'small group' ? We're seeing an ever increasing number of friends traveling together, family reunions, small weddings, elopements, small business meetings, church groups, etc . . If you have anything in mind along these lines - please give us a call, 877-948-5223, or e-mail Romance@WhiteLaceInn.com with your questions or thoughts. Thank you, Dennis
Live Music, Popcorn and Beverages, compliments of Dennis and Bonnie, every Thursday evening from 7:00 to 10:00pm! The well traveled contemporary acoustic folk music group, Random Orbit, continues hanging around our parlor picking tunes for guests and friends on Thursday evenings, year 'round. Although they have been "off the road" for some years now, their music style remains relaxed yet somehow "painfully" intricate. Guests are always welcome to join in. Just one more reason to take a Friday off, book a room and have that long relaxing weekend you deserve!
Visit the Dancing Bear Gift Shop and have Michele or Marcia show you the latest new products. Known for their unique items, this one-of-a-kind gift store has kids' toys, games and books as well as specialty soaps, lotions, Hadley Pottery, greeting cards and so much more. Pick up a sale item or a Dancing Bear t-shirt or sweatshirt for yourself and for your loved ones. The Dancing Bear Shop has become one of the places to visit on 3rd Avenue, in historic downtown Sturgeon Bay. If you need some items shipped UPS -- just call the Dancing Bear at 920-746-5223.
