August makes a grand entrance as 14 tall ships sailed through the Sturgeon Bay canal from Green Bay on their way to Lake Michigan. There are still a couple more weeks to pick your own cherries from one of several orchards here on the Door Peninsula or, if picking is not your thing, take home some fresh, pitted, frozen or dried. There is a reason that we are nationally known for our harvest of this fabulous, healthy fruit. Stay here at the Inn and we will be baking some muffins or stuffed French toast with this local berry. Call before your stay and give your request for your favorite breakfast; Mary and Marcia will be happy to accommodate whenever possible. After your stay, try our recipe of the month at home, Baked Cherry French Toast and let us know how it turns out. We are pleased to share all of our recipes with our guests. August is also the month for music on the Door Peninsula. We have live performances to please everyone’s taste. Peninsula Music Festival presents world class symphonic music throughout the month.
