August in Door County ....beaches and brats, sun and sail, it doesn't get much better. The last hurrah for many of our visitors before the start of the new school year. The summer activities are plentiful, the farmers markets have more vendors than ever. The streetscape on our Third Avenue has had the trees planted and the shops are waiting for you. Walk down from the White Lace Inn and enjoy the sunshine while you check out the bargains. Stop by the Third Avenue Playhouse to see what's on the playbill and then continue to the Jefferson Street Shops and browse through the specialty items that each store has to offer. August is the month for the Peninsula Music Festival. This Door County premier performing arts organization celebrates its 56th season of presenting nine symphonic concerts in three weeks each August. Professional orchestral musicians come from all over the world to be part of this annual festival under the baton of Victor Yampolsky. Performances at Third Avenue Playhouse, visiting our five wineries, museum exhibits, progressive dinners and trolley rides and horse and carriage trips are just a few of the offerings. Your room at the White Lace Inn is just a phone call away! Enjoy the warmth of a fireplace and relax in a whirlpool after your day of activities. We have so many rooms and suites to choose from. Wood burning or gas fireplace, we have your preference. Quaint room or large king suite, we have them both. Although they have been "off the road" for some years now, their music style remains relaxed yet somehow "painfully" intricate. Guests are always welcome to join in.
