September in Door County brings promises of cooler nights, sunny days, harvest festivals, colors starting to turn and did we mention apples? As famous as our cherries are in July/August, our apple orchards have to be given their rightful respect in September. There are several apple growers in the county who produce a multitude of varieties assuring that your favorite one is part of the mix. Plan to stay with us at the White Lace Inn and explore the county before you turn in for the night. Visit an orchard and then catch a performance at American Folklore Theater or a trolley ride to the lighthouses. Browse the fine exhibits at our galleries and museums. Get lost in the corn maze at Schopf's Dairy Farm. Music festivals, golfing, boating and hiking are available during September. In light of the apple season here is a new recipe from Mary's kitchen that has won the recipe of the month honor. Try our Applesauce Banana Bran Muffins and let us know what you think. We are pleased to share all of our recipes with our guests. Check our website or pick up some recipe cards while you are here. Tuck the recipes cards into a gift packet with a White Lace Inn Gift Certificate and you have the perfect wedding, anniversary or birthday present. |
