Those of you who have been waiting for the fall colors
to turn before making a trip up here need wait no longer. We are
already working our way towards the peak colors of the season which should
reach us by mid-month. If you have never experienced Door County in
Autumn, you are missing out on a breathtaking sight; one that reminds us
annually why we have chosen this haven to call our home. Come for the
colors and stay for the harvest. Apples are plentiful, all kinds and
colors along with the side benefits like cider, caramel apples, pies,
cakes and jams. In addition, the local farmers markets will be selling
pumpkins, cabbage, crafts and other locally made products through October.
Festivals abound this month as we entertain visitors with the annual
Pumpkin Patch event in Egg Harbor this weekend and the Sister Bay Fall
Festival October 12-14. Remember,
Door County is only a few hours drive from Chicago and Minneapolis
and well worth the trip. Come for a night or two or more and see what we
mean. Tour the county by bike, auto or trolley, take a hike through one of
our state parks. Enjoy the panorama of fall foliage that October in Door
County offers.
Reserve a room at the White Lace Inn; you'll be glad you did. Our 25th anniversary year has been memorable, with many old and new friends returning to spend a night or two with us. Some have sent us a message about a special time they have had with the White Lace Inn family over the years. We would love to hear from you. Thank you for being a part of our history. What can you expect to do while you are visiting in October? How about a ghost tour or a trip to a lighthouse? Performances at www.ThirdAvenuePlayhouse.com , Peninsula Players, Mr. G's and American Folklore Theater are available through the end of the month. Watch the boats as they depart from the marinas. Concerts, museums, horseback riding, carriage rides, art fairs and quilt shows are all on the event schedule this month. End of season sales at the local retailers can help start your holiday shopping. Even Mary Wilson of the Supremes is paying us a visit this weekend as she performs at the Door Community Auditorium. So you see, there is something for everyone. Pack a sweatshirt or a jacket and come enjoy our county. Your room at the White Lace Inn is just a phone call away! |

We have vacancies in October and we are offering
great rates! Live Music, Popcorn and Beverages, compliments of Dennis and Bonnie, every Thursday evening from 7:00 to 10:00pm! The well traveled contemporary acoustic folk music group, Random Orbit, continues hanging around our parlor picking tunes for guests and friends on Thursday evenings, year 'round. Although they have been "off the road" for some years now, their music style remains relaxed yet somehow "painfully" intricate. Guests are always welcome to join in. Just one more reason to take a Friday off, book a room and have that long relaxing weekend you deserve!
Here are a few more
October happenings
around the Door County Peninsula:
Visit the Dancing Bear Gift Shop and have Michele or Marty show you the latest new products. Known for their unique items, this one-of-a-kind gift store has kids' toys, games and books as well as specialty soaps, lotions, Hadley Pottery, greeting cards and so much more. Pick up a Halloween mask or a Dancing Bear t-shirt or sweatshirt and be the envy of all your friends back home. The Dancing Bear Shop has become one of the places to visit on 3rd Avenue, in historic downtown Sturgeon Bay.
